Matheson, Emporia, and formerly of Kansas City, Mo. passed away at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor, Emporia, on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the age of 95. Annette Rommelfanger was born in Greeley, Anderson County, Kansas on June 17, 1923, the daughter of John and Anna (Rockers) Rommelfanger.

She married William “Bill” Matheson on November 23, 1973 at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, in Kansas City, Missouri. He died July 31, 2011 in Branson, Missouri after 38 years of happy marriage. Annette is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews, including Dan L. Hamilton, Guthrie, Oklahoma, Carol Otter, Norton, Kansas and Patty (Gene) Peacock, Emporia, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Mary Hamilton, and brother, Bernard Rommelfanger. She grew up in Anderson County, graduating from Garnett High School in 1941. She entered nursing school at the Saint Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 1944.

After nursing school she began working in the office of Doctors Underwood in Kansas City and retired after a career of thirty-four years. Following her retirement she used her nursing skills and compassion to care for several family members. Mrs. Matheson was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Emporia, and the Daughters of Saint Francis de Sales.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Emporia. The mass will be celebrated by Father Brandon Farrar of the church. A graveside service will be held that afternoon at 2:30 PM at Saint John the Baptist Cemetery, Greeley, Kansas.

The Rosary will be recited at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Tuesday evening, May 28 at 7:00 P.M. A memorials have been established with the Daughters of Saint Francis of Sales or Hand-In-Hand Hospice (Emporia).
