Anthony W. “Tony” Gosney, 58, of East Moline, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Genesis Health System, Illini Campus, Silvis. A Funeral Service for Tony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 4th Ave. , E., Milan.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Tony’s wife, Shirley. Tony was born on October 29, 1960 in Sherrard, a son of Albert P. and Dorothy J. (Starmer) Gosney.

He married Shirley Conery on December 3, 1983 in Milan. Tony was employed by Arconic for the past 17 years as a maintenance technician. He previously worked at IBP for 16 years.

Tony was an excellent provider, worker and husband. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and camping. Tony was a mentor and best friend to his wife, Shirley.

He was also loved by the many day care children cared for over the years by he and his wife. Many of the day care kids called him gram-pa, but only one called him dad-dad. Tony will be laid to rest in a t-shirt made for him by one of his beloved day care kids, Grayson.

He lived life to the whole and was an inspiration to his many family members and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Shirley; daughter, Bridgett (David) Lance, Moline; grandchildren, Megan and Drea Romero and Davey Lance; great grandson, Mateo Romero; brothers, Lindell (Linda) Gosney, Littleton, CO and Ronald (Tina) Gosney, Centennial, CO; special cousin, Dale (Pam) Allensworth, Moline and many extended family members and friends.
