Antonietta DeSimone Santoro, 88, of Torrington, CT, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Gabriele Santoro. Mrs. Santoro was born February 28, 1930, in Roccacasale, Italy, daughter of the late Ettore and Gaetana Torelli DeSimone.

Antonietta and her husband were the owner/operators of Santoro’s Cleaners in Torrington for over 40 years. A devoted wife and loving mother, she enjoyed baking bread, making tomato sauce, and joining her husband in their vegetable garden. She leaves behind two sons, Gaetano Santoro and daughter-in-law Shannon, Daniel Santoro and daughter-in-law Sarah, both of Harwinton, and five grandchildren, Lauren, Nicolas, Alexa, Connor and Ryan Santoro; one sister, Agatha Fiorente of Rome Italy, and her baby brother, Carlo DeSimone of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael DeSimone and his wife Lina, a sister Clara Taddei, and a sister-in-law Michelina DeSimone. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, followed by entombment in St. Peter Mausoleum. As per Antonietta’s wishes, there were no calling hours and entombment was private for the family.

The family would like to thank Antonietta and Gabriele’s weekly C.N.A. Brenda Smith Silva for over 6 years of care, the staff of Foothills VNA, and the nursing staffs on the 4th floor at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for their care.
