Antonio (Tony)’s Obituary Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Antonio (Tony) Gallardo, 86, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 25, 1932 to Eduardo and Paulita Gallardo in Brownsville, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, of 50 years, Alicia A. Gallardo.

Antonio’s life verse was Joshua 24:14 and he was very active at Valley Hi Baptist Church. Tony had 13 brothers and sisters, he married Alicia Avila in 1957. Tony joined the Army in 1950 as a radio operator and served in the Korean War and over 25 years in the Air National Guard.

He is survived by his children, Anthony Michael Gallardo (Gladys I.), Marc A. Gallardo (Alma M.), James Gallardo, and Ali Gallardo; grandchildren, Anthony M. Gallardo (Brenda), Allexxandria (Michael Verhey), James M. A. Ramon, Navor A. Valenzuela IV (Tara), and Nickolaus A. Valenzuela; and great-grandchildren, Franchesca Gallardo, Marcello Gallardo, Michael R. Verhey, and Sabrina A. Verhey. He will be dearly missed by his family and relatives. Tony was very active with his children and deeply involved in the community with activities such as Cable Westwood neighborhood, Greater Westside Cellular on Patrol, San Antonio’s Volunteer in Policing program.

After Tony retired from Civil Service and the Air National Guard he became a Crossing Guard for the City of San Antonio at Cable Elementary for 20 years. Tony loved to fish, travel and was also an Amateur radio operator licensed by the Federal Communication Commission to aid during the times of natural disasters and recovery in the southwest region. He enjoyed life to it’s fullest.

Visitation will begin on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Castle Ridge Mortuary.
