ArchBishop Dr. Willie Green Alexander was born October 17, 1936 in Bell Mills, Norfolk County, Virginia to the parents, the late Thomas and Florence Small Alexander. In his early educational training, he attended and graduated from Crestwood High School in Norfolk County which was later called Chesapeake. He further matriculated at Kitrell College and was faithful alumni until his death.
ArchBishop Dr. Willie G. Alexander also attended a refrigeration technical Institute in Denmark, South Carolina. He was certified by the Educational Foundation of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. This prepared him to instruct others in the field of refrigeration management, educational training and testing.
After being certified, he taught refrigeration at the Board of Education in the City of New York. He was later employed at one of the larger refrigeration corporations in New York, Kelnard Refrigeration. From there he retired and became CEO of his own business; Alexander Refrigeration Inc. As head of his own company, he trained many young people as apprentices.
At 82 years he was still running his company even after he was brought back from death in October 2018. In December, 2018, he tried to continue working because he said “if I don’t work I will die”. He realized (after trying), he was too weak and his health would not permit him to continue to work.
He was sent from Baptist Association Bishop Monroe Clark from Chesapeake to establish a church in New York; this was the founding of Alexander Temple Holiness Church Of God Inc. in 1965. With God given support God used him as part of a team to establish the St Augustine Theological Institute in 1978. He also was a treasurer of the Police Clergy, Liaison of the 73rd Precinct.
As a trailblazer, ArchBishop Dr. Willie G. Alexander was one of the original five Pastors chosen as police clergy in the 73Rd Precinct in Brooklyn, New York. He studied at O.M. Kelly Bible Institute in New York and also Manhattan Bible Institute. He received His Doctor of Divinity, Arts and Humanity, Doctor of Sacred Theology and Doctor of Living Letters; before studying with his wife as they received their Doctor of Philosophical Theology Ph.
D together from United Christian College in Brooklyn, NY. GOD joined ArchBishop Dr. Willie G. Alexander and Overseer Dr. Vera Alexander in holy matrimony on December 28, 1994, after their many years of working together for the glory of GOD. They both brought their love for God, HIS work and love for HIS people to this union.
Both were already theologians, gathering more wisdom and knowledge to continue preparing GOD’S people to walk in their GOD’s given purpose. Some of his accolades are:He is listed in the Honored Professional in the National Registers “Who’s Who” in the 2002 Edition: received – recognition for his dedication & loyal services from Key to Heaven Bible Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y. 2011 and also 2016; honor from Mayor Dinkins of New York; award from the Police Liaison 73rd Precinct – 1997; in 2010 an award of honor from St. Augustine Theological Institute for his then 32 years of faithful service. During Archbishop Dr. Willie G. Alexander Presidency over St. Augustine Theological Institute, he stayed faithful and walked in his GOD given purpose for over 41.
GOD then added the following branches: Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Gadsen, Alabama; Frederick, Maryland; New Jersey; North Carolina; South Carolina; and some African students. Archbishop Dr. Willie G. Alexander was preceded in death by his mother and father the late Thomas and Florence Small Alexander; his sister, Rose McDonald; three of his brothers, Robert Lee Alexander, Edward Alexander and Harold Small. Archbishop Dr. Willie G. Alexander leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Overseer Dr. Vera Alexander of 23 years 2 months 1 day; his children, Dr.Tabitha of Georgia, Willie Green, Jr. of Maryland; Willie (Lettie); Andrew (Sandra); Viola; Angel of New York; Tsarsha of Texas, Charles, Dorcas,Rachael of New York; his siblings, Deaconess Faye (Samuel) of Connecticut, Thomas J. (Armenthia) of Maryland, Carolyn McFadden of New York City, Dr. Florence McNatt of Staten Island, Addie Walles of New York City; his grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
