Obituary for Archie Smothers Jr. Archie Smothers, Jr., age 101, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 19, 2019. He served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII. Archie worked as a general contractor before and after retiring from the City of Fort Wayne.

Archie is survived by his dear wife Susie of 50 years; lovingly remembered by his daughters, Ella Mae (McGee) Robinson and Myra Cross of Illinois, Barbara Jean Cobb of Kentucky, Ardrilla Smothers of Indiana, Aquilla (Ricky) Clemenz of North Carolina; sons, Anthony (Mary) Rhone, Archie (Christy) Smothers, Doffice Smothers, William (Nyla) Smothers all of Indiana; many generations of grandchildren, sisters Alice Williams, Mattye Nathan, Georgia (Abraham) Picou all of Illinois; sister-in-law, Margaret Smith of Ohio; brother-in-law Joseph (Linda) Rhone of Indiana. Archie is preceded in death by his parents Archie, Sr. and Alberta Smothers; daughter, Louise (John Wesley) Johnson; sons, Jimmie Rhone Sr. and John Ray; sisters Mary Woods, Elizabeth Wash, Mamie Harris, and Alberta Timble; brothers William, Peter, George, Benny, and Benjamin Smothers. Service is 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., with calling 2 hours prior beginning at 12:00 pm.
