Arlene Rose Mostad, 88, Mandan, died May 30, 2018, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Matt Thompson officiating.

Burial will take place at 9:00 AM on Monday, June 4, 2018, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Arlene was born on April 12, 1930, to August and Ida (Gast) Ziegelman. She attended country school near Great Bend, ND and made many trips in the family buggy to school. At the age of 14, she began her career as a waitress in Wahpeton, ND, and during the summers she would also help in the fields on the family farm.

At the age of 16, she met Leland Mostad. They were joined in marriage on September 5, 1948, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Jeanette. Arlene and Leland lived in Wahpeton and Grand Forks before moving to Mandan in 1981.

She was a lifelong waitress and enjoyed serving others. Arlene enjoyed embroidering and playing bingo. She loved telling jokes and spending time with her good friends and family.

She and Leland loved the times they went dancing together. They were quite the couple! Blessed to have shared her life are her children, Peggy (Chuck) Lee, Mandan, Sherman (Iryna) Mostad, Bismarck, and Dean Mostad, Bismarck; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, one sister, Jeanette Pratt; and two brothers, Alfred (Jeanie) Ziegelman, and Raymond (Marvel) Ziegelman.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland; brothers, Marvin and Milton Ziegelman; and her sister, Erma Prochnow.
