Arnett Dixon was born, January 25, 1940 to Valree Dixon and Dorothy Taylor. Arnett departed this life on April 27, 2018, at 4:48 a.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death his father, Valree Dixon, his mother Dorothy Taylor, his sister, Dorothy, affectionately nicknames Dot, who passed April 2018, his youngest sister, Virginia, and his son, DeWayne Wilson.

Arnett was a resident of Kansas City, Kansas while attending public school. He graduated from Sumner High School, Class of 1958. He worshipped at Mt.

Zion Baptist Church with his mother, later he joined First Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Married to Sandra Marie Stokes, Arnett and Sandra celebrated their 26th Wedding Anniversary on April 25, 2018. Arnett said to Sandra that the journey was so rewarding, he would want another 26 years.

Sandra and Arnett dreamed together, walked together and laughed together. As a family, Sandra and Arnett and family joined Sheffield Assembly in 1990. Arnett had a great work ethic.

He retired from KU Medical Center after fifteen and a half years of service and retired from Sam’s Club after fifteen and a half years of service. Arnett loved sports, particularly Golf Tournaments with Tiger Woods on TV, Basketball with the KU Jayhawks, and Football with the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved rhythm and blues.

He could name all the artists from his era and readily identify songs. Arnett had won his battle with cancer. He and his wife, Sandra were so thankful for each day.

Arnett M. Dixon leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of twenty-six years, Sandra Marie Dixon; his daughters, LaTrese Michell Wilson Maywether (Jim Maywether) and Sandrann Wilson; his son, Arnett Dixon, Jr; his daughter, Lacrecia Downs; his grandsons: DeMarcus Downs, MarQuon Wilson, and Kory’on Jamel Joseph Wilson; and a host of other relatives and friends, Funeral Service for Arnett M. Dixon will be held Saturday, May 12,11:30 a.m. at Sheffield Family Life Center, 5700 Winner Road. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery.
