Helen Margaret Lewandowski, 87, of Smithville, MO passed away at home on Thursday, June 21, 2018. She was born April 13, 1931 on the Indian Reservation in White Earth, MN. Despite having a difficult upbringing Helen worked hard to provide for her family.

Her three sons are Military Veterans with service in the Air Force and Army. Later in life, she went back to school and earned her Associates Degree, and started a 30 year career in the travel profession. She was also a faithful member of the Church of the Redeemer in Parkville.

She enjoyed her many friends at the Silver Sneakers at St. Luke’s Hospital, the Senior Center and American Legion all in Smithville. She is survived by her children Robert (Rosemary) Lowe, Roberta (the late M. Melvin M.D.) Goldfine, Richard (Barbara Lobrino) Lowe and John S. Lowe. Her special grandson John Stephen Vasquez and niece RaeAnn Conforti.

Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other extended family. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at St. Luke’s Home Care and Hospice for the special attention given to their mother. Services are private.
