The family of Geneva Whitley Carple lovingly remembers her as a caring wife, devoted aunt, and loving sister. She transitioned on the evening of June 22 after battling Alzheimer’s disease. Geneva was born in Hartville, Missouri on July 23, 1918 to Frank James Whitley and Opal Denton Whitley.

In 1934 Geneva Graduated from Lincoln High School at age 16 with honors. She’s a widow of Tuskegee Airman August Carpel. Geneva was a gifted and meticulous clothing designer, pattern maker and seamstress and for over 30 years she worked in downtown Kansas City, Missouri’s famed garment district at Brand and Puritz.

She was integral to the company’s long-standing success. She is survived by her sister Irene W. Marcus, nieces Gena Irene Bardwell and Ramona Lynn Isaac and her great nieces Briana Marie Bigham and Tiffany Lynn Bigham as well as a host of cousins, countless friends, and members of Bethel AME Church. Services will be held at Bethel AME Church 2329 Flora Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64108.

The visitation is at 10:00 am and the Service begins at 11:00 an.
