Obituary for Arthur V. Larson Jr. Arthur V Larson, Jr, 85, of Guilford, passed away on Jan 7, 2019 after battling Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s. He was born to Arthur V, Sr and Elizabeth (Murphy) Larson on October 17, 1933 in New Haven, Conn. He was raised in Stony Creek and Branford.

, a proud Creeker as he would called himself. He was employed by Conn Light and Power Co for 35 years until his retirement 30 years ago. He was a member of the Westbrook Elks Club and involved with the Branford and Guilford Park and Recreation serving the council.

He participated in the men’s volleyball league winning a couple of league championships as well as playing softball until he became the men’s softball coach. He coached the Country Tavern and Ashley’s Ice Cream men’s softball teams in Guilford winning a couple of league championships as well. He also was involved in the creation of the Guilford Youth Football league in the 1970’s.

He is survived by his sons; Arthur “Lootch” (Sandra) and Mark E. Larson. He also cherished his two grandsons; Erik (Nicole) and Jon (Kelly) Larson along with 3 great-grandchildren; Savannah, Keegan and Bridget. He also leaves his brother David and sisters; Ellen Bedard and Ann (Paul) Albini.

He leaves behind a couple of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Joan C (Seastrand) and brothers; Robert and Raymond Larson as well as sister Carol Richardson. He loved to share the time on Block Island with his sons, grandsons, great-grandchildren and their family as well as friends He also made many friends on the island that he loved so much with his wife to share the annual July 4th family gathering.

The Larson family would like to extend our gratuity to the caregivers from LifeTime and Lighthouse Companion Care agencies for their compassionate care and assistance for Art to remain at home. The family also was grateful for Connecticut Hospice Care of Branford for providing comfort during his final days as well as Dr. H Levy for being his Primary Care Physician for over 60 years for his care and friendship.
