OBITUARY Aubrey “Preacher” Garland Venable September 10, 1925 – November 14, 2018 Aubrey Garland “Preacher” Venable, of Rustburg left this world after 93 years on November 14, 2018. He was the eldest son of the late Rev. George C. Venable and Blanche Barnes Venable who will welcome him to his home in Heaven, along with his wife Claudia and son, Aubrey II.

He leaves behind two sons, George Venable and wife Carolyn and Shawn Venable; one brother, Bruce Venable; one sister, Charlotte Low; four grandsons, Greg Venable, Josh Venable, Brian Venable and Mark Venable; one granddaughter, Kristina Renner (who gave him the designation of “Grumps”) and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a much appreciated family friend, Lucianne Chenault who came by often to chat and fix him home cooking. Preacher was a member of the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department for 58 years and served as Chief for over 35 years. He drove many of Campbell County’s children to school as their bus driver for over 45 years, retiring at age 84.

He was also a farmer and spent many years working the farm he was raised on and loved. He proudly served his country in WWII in the US Marine Corps. He was and always will be a Marine, now guarding Heaven’s golden streets.

He was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church. A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department. His wish was to be transported on a 1939 Diamond-T Fire Truck by his fellow firemen to his final resting place in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 206, Rustburg, VA 24588.
