2/8/1931 – 5/22/2018 Audrey D’heedene MacDowell wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 22, 2018. She was 87 years old. She is proceeded in death by her parents Albert Robert and Thelma Marie D’heedene and her sister Thelma Marie Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John MacDowell, their children: Roger and wife Bobbi, Charles and wife Donna, Cindy and husband Hal, and Betsy and her husband Chris, eight grandchildren: Cassi, Jessie, Tyler, Stacy, Meghan, Diane, Jared and Charlie; and 6 great-grandchildren. Audrey met her husband while attending Oberlin College where she received a BA in Education. She received an MS in Special Education at the College of New Rochelle.

Her 32 years teaching first grade and special education were most rewarding. She loved young children and would share many stories from the classroom with her family, including when she learned the Greek alphabet just to keep up with one of her more gifted students. She never put herself first, she was a very caring person with a kindness of heart and a gentle spirit.

She could spend hours outdoors either in her flower garden or listening for and identifying birds by their songs. Audrey, Mom, Gram – you will be greatly missed. A private memorial will be held by her family.
