Austin James Huisingh, February 27, 1994 — March 16, 2019

Austin’s Obituary With the heaviest hearts, we announce that Austin Huisingh, our beloved son, brother, family member and friend, began his eternal life on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the age of 25 years. Austin was born to Rod and Kris Huisingh in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on February 27, 1994. Although he left us so soon, Austin greatly affected countless people in his lifetime.

Austin was an alumnus of Unity Christian High School and Calvin College. Austin was as a great man of faith and God. He lived life to the fullest, and inspired others to do the same through Silver Lake adventures and dedicating his time to caring for others through mission trips in Guatemala as well as the West Michigan Youth for Christ.

He was also a nurse technician at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, where he exemplified his abundant kindness and compassion to coworkers and patients. Austin is dearly missed by his parents, Rod and Kris; his brother and close friend, Blake; his grandparents, Del and Glenda Huisingh; his aunts and uncles, Kel and Betsy Goodyke, Steven and Karen Lambert, Kurt and Deb Goodyke, and Paul and Kris Huisingh; as well as his many other family members, coworkers, and an abundance of friends whose lives he so deeply affected. Austin’s positive energy and contagious laugh and smile brightened every room he entered, and we know that heaven shines a little brighter now too.

Austin was predeceased by his grandparents, Gerald and Ethel Goodyke, and his special Auntie Pat Huisingh, who he loved so dearly and who taught him to serve with a servant’s heart and trust in God always. He best remembered her through Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God,” and we will all carry this same message with us. Visitation will be held at VanderLaan Funeral Home, 4917 32nd Ave.

Hudsonville, MI 49426, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M and on Thursday from 10 to 11 A.M. at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church. A funeral service in memory of Austin will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church. Interment Georgetown Cemetery.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Austin to Youth For Christ Byron Center or Muscular Dystrophy Association. The love that Austin had for his Lord and Savior is something we will strive for every day. He is truly missed but never forgotten.
