Austin Lee Muniz, of La Junta, Colorado and formally of Rocky Ford, Colorado, entered into rest, November 18, 2018 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Mr. Muniz was born on January 25, 1997 to Ray Anthony Muniz and Cynthia Hernandez in La Junta, Colorado. He was 21 years of age.

Austin graduated with the class of 2016 from Rocky Ford Junior/Senior high school. He was involved in youth sports at a very young age. He loved playing basketball, baseball and football, but wrestling has always been his passion.

… Read More » Austin received numerous first place metals which got him to the Colorado State Wrestling tournament. He also loved to fish, camp and watch football. The Denver Broncos, Chicago Bulls and Boston Red Sox have been his favorite teams.

Austin loved spending time with his friends and family. He also lived in Missouri for a short time working in construction before returning to Colorado. Austin was employed at Lewis Nut and Bolt Company.

He is survived by his parents Cynthia Hernandez of La Junta, Colorado, Ray and Fritzie Muniz of La Junta, Colorado, Godparents, Eleanor and Adam Casillas of Rocky Ford, Elizabeth Muniz of Denver, Matthew Muniz of Rocky Ford, Jose and Renee Salas of LaJunta, Colorado, siblings, Anthony Muniz of Amarillo, Texas, Alexis Hernandez, Josh (Marisa) Muniz, Godson, Luciano Muniz, girlfriend Megan Wilson of La Junta, Colorado, step siblings Alex Martinez, Mark (Heather) Martinez, Dominic Abeyta, Maria Llaca and Brandi Lyn Llaca all of La Junta. Grandparents, Ned Hernandez, Raymond and Rose Muniz of Rocky Ford, numerous aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, great aunts, numerous cousins and friends. He Loved by his great Godson Luciano Muniz.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother Priscilla Hernandez, great grandparents Muniz, Great grandparents Jaramillo, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. A 12:00 P.M. visitation will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at the Nazarene Church, 709 South 12th Street, Rocky Ford, Colorado Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home.
