Obituary for Bambine Lotito Betty Lotito Fabulous Mother and Friend August 6, 1934- October, 2018 Bambine “Betty” Lotito 84, of Manchester NJ and formerly of Staten Island New York, passed away on Tuesday October 2nd, 2018 after a long hospital stay and time in a convalescence center in Toms River, New Jersey. Mrs. Lotito died with family members at her bed side after a long struggle with Congestive Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension. Mrs. Lotito was born in Manhattan, New York City to her parents, Vito Istriano and Angelina Perro Istriano on August 6, 1934.

She had only one older sister, Rose Hutchins, whom currently resides in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Lotito was a mother of six children, Thomas Lotito 62, Anthony Lotito 61 , Karen Lotito 58, Vincent Lotito 56, Stephen Lotito 56 and Robert Lotito 52. Mrs. Lotito was married to Retired New York City Detective Anthony Lotito also of New York City , on September 19, 1952 ( later divorced) but remained great friends until his death in January of 2016.

Mrs. Lotito received a High School GED from the New York City Board of Education and later advanced her education at the College of Staten Island where she attained her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She retired at the age of 72 as a comptroller at Developmental Disabilities of New Jersey located in Woodbridge NJ after 20 years of service. “She gave her children everything.

Mommy loved her family more than anything”, said her only daughter Karen Lotito. “Each one of her kids thought they were her favorite- that was the magic of my mother” Karen added, noting that her mother was loving and joyful to all her siblings. As a devoted Mother, Mrs. Lotito enjoyed large family gatherings and cooking Sunday dinner every Sunday for most of her life.

“ Our mother made every day feel like a holiday- she was the best cook and creative baker in the world” recall her twin sons Vincent and Stephen. “ She loved family gatherings, which included friends and sometimes friends of friends… everyone was welcome” added Thomas her eldest son. In addition to cooking and baking Mrs. Lotito enjoyed traveling with her sister Rose to Australia and other far off destinations.

She was a creative artist, an avid sewer, an imaginative art and craft enthusiast and curator of collectibles and home décor. When her children were young she participated in PTA, was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Most notably, she co- founded the Mothers Club for Football at Tottenville High School, on Staten Island.

“ Me and my brothers played football at Tottenville HS. My mom was our biggest fan attending nearly every game and founding the Mothers Club to support all the players on the team” said her sons, Anthony and Robert. Mrs. Lotito was a faithful believer and Christian and regularly attended Bible Study both on Staten Island and her home in Manchester.

She was a member of two churches, The First Bible Church located in Staten Island New York and The Whiting Bible Church of Manchester New Jersey. She shared her faith with her family and friends up to the time of her passing. “ My mother is home with the Lord”, joyfully declared her son Vincent.

Mrs. Lotito is survived by her six children and their spouses, her sister Rose, 21 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a service at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home located at 1735, Route 35, Middletown New Jersey 07748: Viewing: Thursday October 4th from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm Funeral at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home on Friday at 10am with burial services to follow at Fair View Cemetery of Red Bank, NJ. The family would like to thank the many healthcare workers whom tended their mothers needs at the end of her life and thoughtfulness and prayers from many friends and family.
