Barbara A. “Bob” Diehl, 86, of North Platte, NE died on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the loving care of the Blue Valley Care Home in Hebron, NE. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, NE with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Burial will be held at the Burke Cemetery near Central City, NE.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www. soltwagnerfuneral.com. Barbara was born on January 10, 1933 to Lloyd and Elsie (Banish) Stalker in Rushville, Nebraska.

Barb grew up in the Archer area, and graduated from Archer High School in 1951. On May 7, 1950, Jim Kucera and Barbara Stalker were married in Belleville, KS. A short time after she graduated from high school, Barb joined Jim while he was stationed in Vicenza, Italy.

They would make their home there for 5 years until they moved to Waukegan, IL. While in Waukegan, Barb worked as the bookkeeper at a service station that they owned. In 1961 Barb and Jim moved to Millard, NE where Barb worked for eye doctor, Dr. Adams as a receptionist and bookkeeper and then in 1967, they moved to North Platte, NE.

On April 29, 1977 Barbara married Melvin Diehl in North Platte, NE. While living in North Platte, Barb worked as a bookkeeper for several different companies before opening Diehl Business Supply, which she owned and operated until 1999. Barb was retired but continued to work in the home health care industry until the age of 82 when she was no longer able to do so due to her deteriorating eyesight and failing health.

Barb belonged to the United Methodist church and was a member of the Millard, NE VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was very hard working and she seemed happiest when she was busy helping others. Barb enjoyed the simple things in life like spending time in her flower garden, playing cards and taking walks but her greatest love was caring for and spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Galyn Kucera of North Platte, NE and Kevin (Nichole) Kucera of Central City, NE, her grandchildren; Michael Caputo and Jody Caputo both of North Platte, NE, Austin Kucera of Lincoln, and Cody Lawson of Central City, her siblings; Norma Vanpelt of Central City, Doyle Stalker of Golden City, MO and Lorraine Stalker of Omaha, NE. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; Lloyd and Elsie (Banish) Stalker; husband; Melvin Diehl, daughter; Sherry Caputo, grandson; Bud Kucera, her brother; Donald Stalker, brother-in-law; Dewitt Vanpelt and sister-in-law; Linda Stalker.
