Barbara’s Obituary Barbara (Detweiler) Brunk, 90, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Royersford, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Grand View Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Melvin S. Brunk. Barbara was born in Souderton, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel Detweiler and the late Katie (Benner) Detweiler.

She worked as a seamstress for the former Spring City Knitting Mill in Spring City and then as a cleaner for We Care Cleaning Services in Harleysville. Barbara attended Generations of Indian Valley with the Valley Vista residents. She was a member of the former Rockhill Mennonite Church in Telford, the former Pottstown Mennonite Church, and the former Herstein’s Mennonite Church in Schwenksville.

Barbara was a member of Living Faith Fellowship where she served on the Knit-wits crocheting/knitting group. She enjoyed word search puzzles, crocheting, playing all kinds of games, baking, reading books, day trips with friends, and going to Lancaster. Barbara loved spending time with her family and she was known as “mom” to her children’s friends.

She was a caring, compassionate, sweet spirited, godly woman. Barbara was a strong believer in the Lord, had a great smile, and a good sense of humor. She was very giving of her time and was always willing to help others.

Barbara is survived by her two sons, Gerald D. Brunk & wife, Darlene of Lansdale, PA, Darvin J. Brunk & wife, Gloria of Souderton, PA; her two daughters, Gladys A. Roth & husband, Sherwood of Souderton, PA, Shirley A. Hunsberger & husband, Kenneth of Spring City, PA; her 14 grandchildren; her nine great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Verna Mae Brunk; her brother, Wilmer Detweiler; and her sister-in-law, Pearl Detweiler. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Living Faith Fellowship, 582 Moyer Road, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm.

A private burial will take place at Rockhill Mennonite Cemetery in Telford.
