Barbara was born January 16, 1930 in Council Bluffs to the late George and Gladys VanHorn and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She was united in marriage to Richard E. Boysen and together raised their children, Richard Jr. and Michealia.

Barbara served as office manager at Pawloski Insurance Agency and Dr. Knott’s MD’s office.
