Barbara Gardine Jenkins , October 16, 1939 — November 30, 2018

Obituary of Barbara Gardiner Jenkins Barbara T. Gardiner Jenkins, age 79, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2018 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. Jenkins. Born in Mount Vernon, NY on October 16, 1939 she was a daughter of the late John and Katherine Bohne Gardiner.

Barbara had worked as a dental hygienist early on in her career. She had served on the Mill River Wetlands Association and was extremely active with the Trumbull Animal Group. For many years she was a den leader for both Cub Scouts and Brownies, as well the scorekeeper (and occasionally the coach) of the Mt.

Laurel Mets youth baseball team. It was her passion and devotion to all animals, however, that occupied most her time and gave her the most enjoyment and fulfillment. Known throughout the area as an expert in rehabilitating injured animals, friends and strangers alike would bring Barbara countless creatures that she would nurse and care for.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Skip Jenkins and his wife Leanne of Hingham, MA and Nanci Jenkins and her life partner Steve Gasper of Fairfield, her three cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Emmett and Sam Jenkins, her sister, Florence Ambrozy and her husband Bill of Rocky Point, NY, her nieces and nephew, Catherine Ambrozy Antos, Michael Ambrozy and his wife Lisa and Susan Daleo and her husband Joe, as well as their children, whom she adored. In addition to her husband Walter, she was also predeceased by her brother, Al Gardiner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Audubon Society, Trumbull Animal Group or Best Friends Animal Society.

Alternatively, Barbara would have loved anyone to consider rescuing a pet in need. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull.
