Obituary for Barbara Gay Krauss KRAUSS, Barbara G. Portage Barbara G. Krauss, 76, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She was born November 24, 1941 to the late A. Arnold and Fanny Weinstein Axilrod. Barbara was united in marriage to Bernard Krauss on June 25, 1967.

He preceded her in death in May of 2008. Barbara loved to learn, graduating Scott High School of Toledo Ohio in 1959, and then going on to Oberlin on scholarship to graduate with a Bachelors Degree in 1963. She traveled abroad, including France and Mexico, using the language skills she had studied in college.

She worked as an educator, and para-legal, before settling in as a homemaker and child-raiser after marriage. She included gardening and collecting her family history in her pursuits, devoting considerable time to these passions. Barbara is survived by her children, Arnold and Leah; and her brother, David Axilrod.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 31st, 1:00PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Interment will follow at 2:30PM in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
