Obituary for Barbara Jean Bergman Barbara Jean Bergman passed away June 20, 2018 at the Hidden Valley Memory Care Center in Ogden, Utah after many years of battling COPD and Emphysema. Born August 10, 1939 in San Francisco, CA to Desmond K. and Margaret Stout, Barbara was a naval brat true & true, she loved to travel. She spent her early years in the south pacific including Guam and Japan.

Later her family came back to the states where they made the San Diego area their home. Known as “Bobbie” to her classmates, she attended school in Chula Vista, CA and graduated with the Chula Vista High School class of 1957. Barbara continued her education at San Diego University for a couple of years majoring in business.

In October 1959 she married her true love, Joseph Gerald Bergman and to this union three children were born; Tammy, Tina & Joey. Keeping with the true spirit of a military family, she was able to travel abroad once more and have her children with her. They saw Japan, the Philippines, Germany, Italy and Spain.

When Joe retired in 1975 after 20 years of service, they put down roots and raised the family in Montrose, Colorado. After the kids were grown they moved to Vacaville, CA for a few years then decided, the mountains were their home, so they moved to Colorado Springs, CO; before moving to Utah for Joe’s cancer treatments. Barbara worked as a cosmetologist, for a number of years before finding an office job as a secretary at the Insurance Office in Montrose where she remained until moving to CA.

She and Joe were active on the bowling leagues as well as coaching the kids bowling leagues. Barb also volunteered with the girl scouts, becoming a scout leader for a number of years. She was an avid Broncos fan, true and true, and when Denver acquired the Rockies she became a huge baseball fanatic.

One of Barb’s favorite pastimes was crocheting and she spent the last 14 years of her life doing what she loved, crocheting and helping children in the process. She created hundreds of beautiful blankets for the babies of project Linus. Barbara’s greatest love was her family.

She was very proud of her kids and grandkids, but when she became a great grandmother, she was over the moon. She loved spending time with the little ones; they brought such joy to her day. Barbara is survived by her 3 children: Tamra (Tammy) Babbitt (Mark), of Morgan, UT; Tina Briscoe (Dennis) of Rich Hill, MO and Joseph G.(Joey) Bergman, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; 5 grandchildren: Bryan Bergman, Carson Babbitt (Jasmine), Kendal Taylor (Justin), Aaron Babbitt and Taylor Briscoe; her 2 rays of sunshine, great granddaughters Eloise (Ellie) and Adeline; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 45 years, Joseph Gerald Bergman; her parents, Desmond and Margaret Stout; in-laws John and Evelyn Bergman; bother Dennis (Denny) Stout and sister in law, Marlene Stout. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and love her.
