Obituary for Kathryn Adelaide Hapgood It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kathryn Adelaide Hapgood (fondly known as Katie). She passed away June 21, 2018 at the age of 21. Katie was born to Bryon and Gayleen Hapgood August 26, 1996 in Kirkland, Washington.

At the age of 2 she moved with her mother to Taylorsville, Utah, where she grew up in a loving, happy home with her mother and Grandparents, Philo and Dixie Allen. Katie had a great passion for animals. She rescued several in her lifetime and was happy to give them a good home.

She also loved music and playing her guitar and ukulele while singing happy songs to her family and friends. Katie had a bubbly and outgoing personality and was loved by everyone who knew her. After graduating from Taylorsville High School, she worked as a Kitchen Aid at Brighton LDS girls camp, where she was fondly known as “Radar”.

That job was a favorite because she loved being out in nature and singing by the campfire while playing her guitar. She attended Salt Lake Community College where she loved singing in the Institute choir and serving as choir officer. Making children smile was a gift that she freely offered in her life and served her well while she worked as a manager at Build-a-Bear Workshop.

Katie was always looking for a way to brighten the lives of any who might be struggling. She often purchased bears and recorded happy, thoughtful messages to lift their spirits. She also loved to crochet.

Many of her home-made treasures were given to the homeless and other good causes. Katie was generous with her bright smile and willing to share all she had. She will always be fondly remembered for the “Cousin Dates” she would treat her younger cousins to.

Katie is survived by her devoted mother, Gayleen Hapgood, her father Bryon Hapgood of Mckinney, Texas, her loyal boyfriend Bruce Bangerter, and many cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her brother Joshua, her grandparents, Philo and Dixie Allen, and her uncle Travis Gimmeson. A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Taylorsville 19th ward building at 2030 West Chateau Ave.

(5225 South) and again on Monday, June 25th from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made at any Chase Bank in the name of Gayleen Hapgood or at GoFundMe: www. gofundme.com/honor-katie-hapgood.
