Obituary for Sharri Faye Hansen Katona On June 6, 2018 God opened His loving arms and welcomed our cherished Sharron Faye Hansen Katona home. The void she leaves in our lives at times seems too much to bear, but the peace that comes with knowing that she is finally free of the ravaging bonds of suffering give us comfort. Our memories are flooded with her beauty, grace, charm, and extraordinary love and compassion toward everyone – without prejudice.

We miss her terribly but gain solace knowing she is now at peace in her rightful place in Heaven. Sharri was born February 22, 1936 in Logan, Utah. She was the second of four children born to Phyllis Lucille Spenst and James Mitchell Hansen.

Sharri was an extraordinarily gifted musician from a very young age: playing professionally and lending her talents to her beloved church in her later years. She was undeniably glamorous and masterfully talented; earning the honor of second runner up for Miss Utah, playing the piano with Utah Symphony, and hosting her own radio show. She also appeared with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show, stumping the band back in the good old days.

On August 28, 1958 Sharri married Gordon Lowell Bennett, and together they had four beautiful children. Later they divorced. On October 12, 1984 Sharri began a new chapter with her adoring husband to the very end, Barry Frank Katona.

Sharri is preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Mitch Hansen and brother Gordon Hansen. She is survived by her children: Kristin Gina Cavasos, Juliette Bennett, Danielle Bennett, Christopher Bennett; brother Spenst Hansen, sister Claire Stevenson; grandchildren Melinda Marshall, Ashley Archer, Braeden Beckstrand, Britinni Rodrigues; great grandchildren Isabel Marshall, Westley Rodrigues, Bennett Rodrigues. A beautiful life transitioned to an extraordinary new adventure on June 6, 2018.

We love you Mom! A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Quality Home Health & Hospice for their profound love, care and compassion. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 15th, 11:00 AM at the Salt Lake Christian Center, 4300 So.

700 E. Salt Lake City, with a viewing prior to services from 10 – 11 AM. Interment will at Sandy City Cemetery.
