Obituary for Barbara Kowalski Barbara Jean Bearden Kowalski, 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Self Regional Hospital. Born on May 17, 1939 in Lancaster, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ellerbee Alexander Bearden and the late Zona Caldwell Bearden Shumate. She finished her education at Landsdale School of Business in Montgomery County, PA and then went to work for Mail Advertising Company, retiring as Plant Manager after 35 years.

A former member of Heritage Sertoma Club, she enjoyed working the concession stands for Greenwood High School football games, volunteering at the soup kitchen and donating school supplies in mid-year. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Victor “Bronk” Kowalski of North Wales, PA and two brothers, Melvin Bearden and Norris “Shorty” Bearden. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Suggs (Robert) and a brother, Wayne Bearden, both of Greenwood and several nieces and nephews.
