Obituary of Barbara Slater Barbara M. Slater, 82, of Woodbourne, NY, died at home on October 3, 2018 after a long illness. Barbara was born on June 23, 1936 to Arthur and Elsie Lunger Weyuker in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from the Brooklyn Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and enjoyed a long and satisfying nursing career.

She had a diverse variety of interests including deer hunting, aviation, needlepoint, and snowmobiling. Barbara and late husband Ralph were proud of their small dairy farm in Grahamsville, and enjoyed world travel and RV camping in their retirement. Barbara was a member of AARP, a volunteer at the Daniel Pierce Library, Time and the Valleys Museum, Grahamsville United Methodist Church, and TRIAD, a local senior citizen support group.

She also enjoyed working as a Townsman staff member. Barbara was predeceased by beloved husband Ralph Slater, step-daughter Theresa Horvath, and brother, Matthew Weyuker. She is survived by her children – Douglas Hamilton and his wife Jona of Grahamsville, and their daughter, Bethany Hamilton of Kingston; Ellen Hamilton Salovich and her husband Steve, of Ellenville; and John Hamilton and his wife, Debbie Stefanuk of Cape Coral, Florida; as well as step-son Gary Slater of Grahamsville and sister-in-law Marlene Weyuker of Desert Hot Springs, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Grahamsville United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Seung Jin Hong officiating. Interment will be at the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the United Methodist Church, PO Box 86, Grahamsville, NY 12740.
