Obituary of Rose Parrow Rose F. Parrow passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, surrounded by family. Rose was born in Winooski, Vermont on April 10, 1924 to Frank and Mary (Abruzza) Franze. She leaves her loving, devoted husband, Calvin Parrow, of 71 years.

She also leaves her children; Greg and Donna (Enns), daughter, Gail (Parrow) Farrell and partner, Donn L., Jay Parrow, Susan (Parrow) Newbury and husband Roger, and Jon and Nancy (Raymond) Parrow. She is predeceased by her son, Gary Parrow. Rose and Calvin have eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who love and adore her.

Rose loved reading, gardening, art and setting off on day trips and adventures. Since moving to Sundown in 1955, Rose was a devout parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Woodbourne, NY, where she was involved in many aspects of the church. Rose loved to read and became active on the Daniel Pierce Library Board, developing long-time bonds with many friends of the library.

She was an integral part of the annual Giant Pumpkin Party, and other library fundraising efforts. More recently, she thoroughly enjoyed and participated in the library’s monthly book club, and was not shy in sharing her thoughts and opinions with the members of the group. Art was also a big part of Rose’s life and she loved looking at art, as well as making art.

Family and friends are familiar with her detailed little drawings and sketches on slips of paper and cardboard, the backs of envelopes that she send personal notes on. She was a member and volunteer of the Catskill Art Society and participated in shows, events and museum trips. Most of all, Rose found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, and they cherished their time with her.

Acquaintances of Rose, knew her to have great wit and a wonderful sense of humor, a deep sense of curiosity and love of learning. Fond memories of Rose will be in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6pm on Friday, November 23rd at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, November 24th at Immaculate Conception Church, 6317 State Route 42, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Arrangements under the care of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, for further information call 845-434-7363 or visit www.
