Obituary of Helen Mickelson Helen L. Mickelson of Grahamsville passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Glen Arden with her loving family by her side. She was 81. She was the daughter of the late George and Kathryn Sheley Krom, born in Liberty on July 12, 1937.

Many may remember Helen as a waitress in many local restaurants such as Carols Kitchen, Finches and Mattison Diner. She enjoyed cooking and catering all types of parties. She was a loving and caring woman who devoted more than 30 years to caring for her mother and mother-in-law.

She loved the beach and was the true matriarch of her family. She enjoyed spending time with her entire family but specifically her grandchildren; they were the light of her life and she adored them. Helen was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and always made her home a warm and welcoming place for all to come and visit.

She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Cathy Mickelson, Mike Mickelson and his wife, Lori, Bob Mickelson and his wife, Beth, Ron Mickelson and his wife, Alexa; her grandchildren: Chris, Mike, Ryan, Joe, Jon and Amelia; her great-grandchildren: Jacob and Genevieve; her siblings: John Krom and his wife, Iva, Robert Krom and his wife, Patty, her brother and sisters-in-law: Ray Mickelson, Karen Slater, and Ann Krom; her cousin and special friend, Alice Bertholf; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Emmett Mickelson in 1990; one son, Mark Mickelson, and one brother, Richard Krom.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., TODAY, Sunday, December 16th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 17th at Grahamsville Reformed Church, State Rte 55, Grahamsville, NY 12740; Pastor Ronk will officiate. Interment will follow at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s name can be made to Glen Arden, 214 Harriman Dr., Goshen, NY 10924 or Grahamsville Reformed Church, State Route 55, Grahamsville, NY 12740.
