Obituary for Baxter Lewis Perry PERRY, Baxter Lewis, age 94, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Vantage Pointe Village in Ashland City, Tennessee. Lewis was born in Neptune, Tennessee, on September 9, 1924, to the late James Litt Perry and Cora Sanders Perry. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during WWII.
Lewis managed the Cheatham County School Bus Shop for many years. He was with the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Department for over 50 years as a part-time deputy and court officer. He had a service station on Main Street in Ashland City and co-owner of P & J Trucking Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Anderson and Horace Perry; and sisters, Elsie Perry and Irene Noe. He is survived by his children, Ronald Lewis Perry, Sr, Patsy (Randy Walker) Perry, Todd (Stacy) Ford; sister, Ora Belle Sutton; grandchildren, Ron (Liane Woodruff) Perry, Kim (Tim) Looney, Jeremie (Christina) Perry, Deana (Dean Norwood) Hall, Tracy (Rick Jones) Thompson, Celeste Ford, Taylor (Daniel) Coker, Jeff Barnum; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Perry, Jacob Looney, Kristin Looney, Dawson Hall, Cody Thompson, Colton Thompson, Danica Coker; former wife, Freida Perry; her children, Delores Finnen, Steve Gafford, Debbie Hayes. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday, October 5, 2018, from 3pm to 8pm and on Saturday, October 6th from 11am to 1pm service hour. Serving as active pallbearers Ron Perry, Jeremie Perry, Tim Looney, Dean Norwood, Rick Jones, Steve Gafford, Dawson Hall, and Jacob Looney.
Honorary pallbearers are Doris Sanders and Johnny Jenkins.
