St. Anne, Illinois – Rebecca L. (Becky) McComb, 65, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, died on May 7, 2018 at her home, after a six-month battle with fast-progressing ALS. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, Wilmington, Illinois. Her family will receive friends one hour before the service.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Ryan’s Pier, 112 East 1st Street, Aroma Park, Illinois starting at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Salvation Army, Kankakee, Illinois; the Betty Estes Memorial Scholarship, c/o Bank of Pontiac, Pontiac, Illinois; or River Valley Animal Rescue, Momence, Illinois. Becky was born September 18, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia, the eldest daughter of Dal and Betty Estes.

She married Kenny McComb on August 12, 1972 in Ransom, Illinois. He survives in St. Anne. Also surviving are her son, Jason (Rhonda) McComb, and her “sunshine” and light of her life, grandson, Lucas McComb, all of Bourbonnais, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Adam, and in-laws, Wayne and Aggie McComb. Becky was raised on the South Side of Chicago and attended Vanderpool Elementary and Morgan Park High School. She moved to Ransom, Illinois in the early 1970’s where she met her future husband, Kenny.

Following their marriage, they settled in Ransom, where they farmed for 43 years. Prior to their retirement, they also owned a seed company, growing sales from 75 bags to 12,000 bags of Beck’s Hybrids annually. Becky was also a volunteer for several years in the Pontiac, Illinois Tourism office with her Mom, Betty.

She was an avid reader, gardener, cook and baker. She loved, and was known for cooking amazing meals and decorating cakes for family and friends. Becky cheered loudly for the Chicago Bears and, although a South Sider, was a diehard Cubs fan, much to her family’s dismay.

Since their retirement, Becky and Kenny have traveled extensively, with her most memorable trips being to Alaska, Hawaii and countless Caribbean cruises. Becky is survived by her loving siblings – brother, David Estes, Pontiac, Illinois; sisters, Cynthia (Simmie Baer), Silver Lake, Washington; Melissa (Keith) Barnhart, Yorkville, Illinois; and Elizabeth (Mary Fechtig) Estes, Saugatuck, Michigan. She is also survived by brothers-in law, Wayne (Judy) McComb, Morris, Illinois; George McComb and Mike Hoover, Verona, Illinois, and by nieces and nephews, Lizzie (Craig) Roscoe, Villa Park, Illinois, Claire Barnhart, Los Angeles, California, Jeff McComb, Missouri and Doug McComb, Morris, Illinois, as well as several great nieces and nephews, including her Cubs pal, Hayden Roscoe, and his big sister, Grace.

The family would like to thank the Kankakee Valley Hospice and Dr. John Rinker, Pontiac, Illinois, for the wonderful care Becky received. Her sweet spirit never wavered, even in the face of this difficult disease. She will be missed beyond measure.
