ELLAVILLE, GA — Mrs. Sara Rebecca “Becky” Gentry, age 73, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga. Funeral services will be held at Plains United Methodist Church in Plains, GA on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Lee Smith and Rev.

R. T. Beverly officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service starting at 12:00 noon at the church.

Mrs. Gentry was born December 3, 1945 in Americus, GA to the late John Robert Cooper and Sara Gee Colston. She had attended Helena Dye Beauty College in Nashville, TN. Before her retirement she was a receptionist for Dr. William R. Anderson.

She adored her family and friends. Mrs. Gentry enjoyed playing the piano, talking on the phone, music and doing hair for friends and family. Mrs. Gentry was a member of Plains United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Gentry of Plains, GA; one daughter, Wendy Jones (Darryl) of Preston, GA; two brothers, Bobby Cooper (Wayne) of Athens, TX; John Montgomery (Cathy) of Americus, GA; and one sister in law, Charlotte Cooper of Plains, GA. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Justin Speck of Jacksonville, FL, Blake Speck of Buena Vista, GA, Ashley Austin (Taylor) of Americus, GA, Ansley Jones of Preston, GA, Lauren Burdwell (Logan) of Buena Vista, GA and two great grandchildren, Laynce Kate Burdwell and Adley Klaire Burdwell. A number of special nieces and nephews also survive.

In additional to her parents, Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her son, Tim Speck and brother, Billy Cooper. Serving as pallbearers will be Darryl Jones, Robbie Cooper, Chandler Cooper, Rick Concotelli, Justin Speck, Blake Speck and Chuck Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plains United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 219, Plains, GA 31780 or the League of the Good Samaritan, c/o Magnolia Manor, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709.
