Cameron Schladenhauffen, age 31, passed away February 8, 2019. Described by many who knew him as the funniest person they ever met, Cameron had the natural ability to light up a room with his limitless supply of entertaining stories and razor sharp wit. He was born on August 6, 1987 in Anchorage, Alaska to his loving parents Benjamin and Beth Sullivan Schladenhauffen.

Cameron was blessed to be the supportive and protective big brother to his sisters Sarah Schladenhauffen Bennett and Margaret “Molly” Schladenhauffen. The last love of his life was his goddaughter and niece, Mary Kathryn Bennett, whom he nicknamed “Batman”. Along the way, Cam lived in Niceville, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Littleton, Colorado; Tallahassee, Florida; Charlottesville, Virginia; and most recently New York, New York.

Though Cameron was blessed only with sisters by blood, he found brothers everywhere he went. Whether it was his fellow Niceville Eagles, the Seminoles of Florida State, or the Wahoos at University of Virginia School of Law, Cam was most in his element when surrounded by his friends. His energy and humor always made him the center of attention and he never failed to make even the toughest of crowds laugh.

The only thing Cam loved more than comedy and making other people laugh was his family and friends. He was in awe of those taking giant leaps into adulthood by getting married and starting their own families. When called to give a best man speech at one of his best friend’s weddings in October 2017, Cam poured his heart and soul into writing for weeks and delivered a performance that would rival the all-time Saturday Night Live monologues.

He always made sure there was a gift in the mail to his best friends’ children, nieces, and nephews for their birthdays or on holidays. Before the arrival of his goddaughter and niece, Cam had “Batman” t-shirts created for the whole family so they could welcome her to the world in style. And, of course, he always loved to give his friends a good ribbing to keep them grounded.

As a student at the University of Virginia School of Law, Cameron found an outlet for his passion for comedy. In his third year, he was elected as Head Writer for Libel, the school’s annual sketch comedy show, for which he wrote and acted in all three years. Cam continued to chase his dream even after graduating from school, recently submitting an application to the NBC network for their Late Night with Seth Meyers Show writers program.

After law school, Cameron headed north to New York City, where he was working as a real estate finance attorney and living the dream with some of his best friends. Cameron’s loss has left a hole in our hearts, but he blessed us with enough love and memories to fill that void forever. A rosary will be held on Thursday, February 14th at 6 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Niceville, Florida.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 15th at 2:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of Cameron’s life with a Mass at 3:30 p.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Niceville, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making donations to The Comedy Cures Foundation.
