James M. Davis, 85, a longtime resident of Niceville, FL, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 surrounded by his family. Born January 18, 1934 in Simpson, WV, he was the son of the late Stanley and Nellie Davis and the brother of Louise Davis Phelps (Bud). He graduated from Flemington High School in Flemington, WV.

After high school graduation, he married the love of his life, Jo Ann Thompson, and they began their military life together traveling to many locations around the world. Jim served during both the Korean and Vietnam War where he received many decorations and awards. In 1973 he retired from the Air Force at Eglin AFB and later began a Civil Service career.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann and 3 children, Rick (Denise) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Debi Davis Schoen (Jeff) of Covington, LA, Teri Davis Schenke (Dan) of Niceville, FL. He leaves 5 grandchildren Greg Davis, Alan Davis, Laura Davis Corder (Lance), Jon Schenke, Sarah Schenke Manecki (Adrian) and 5 great grandchildren Kaylin, Madison, Davis, Taylor and Lawson. Jim enjoyed being with his family and was very proud of their many accomplishments.

He was a long-time member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church, Niceville. There will be a time of visitation held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the charity of your choice.
