Bernadine Carter Smith November 18, 1941 – December 22, 2018 Bernadine “Deanie” Carter Smith departed this life at Marrero Health Care on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the age of 77. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Deanie, as she was affectionately called by family and friends was a retired custodian of East Jefferson Hospital and Howard Johnson Hotel.

Loving mother of Michael Ralph (Shawna) Smith. Daughter of the late William Carter and Lola Carter-Green. Sister of Estelle C. McTier, Albert Carter, Phillip (Kerry) Green, Elliot (Nedra) Green, Livi (Linda) Carter, and the late William A. Carter and Jacqueline Simmons.

Sister-in-law of Bernette Carter, Leona Christoff, and the late Richard Simmons. Former wife of the late Clarence Smith, Jr. Bernadine is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Little Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Marrero Health Care are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Little Zion Baptist Church, 433 Avondale Garden Rd.

Avondale, LA on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00a.m. Pastor Damian Brown, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
