Berniece “Bea” L. Schroderus, 77 of Petoskey, died June 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Bea was born on July 16, 1940 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and at a young age moved to Detroit. She attended Cody High School and while there met the love of her life, William “Bill” Schroderus.

The two were married on August 18, 1962 in Detroit and the two made their home there until 1972 when they moved to Northern Michigan and settled in Springvale Township. In 1987, Bill and Bea purchased a farm in Springvale Township. Bill preceded Bea in death on April 22, 1998.

Bea enjoyed reading and was an avid bowler. She was a true Cribbage Bandit and taught several of her grandchildren how to play. She is survived by 4 children, William (Heidi) Schroderus of Appleton, WI, David (Tammy) Schroderus of Traverse City, MI, Sharon (Darren) Fettig of Petoskey, and Susan (Billy) Jones of Grand Rapids, MI; 13 grandchildren, Andy (Lauren), Austin, Wendy, Charlie, Brooke, Molly, Hayley, Kendall, Billy, Leila, Savannah, Jessica (Kruz), and Michael (Alex); 2 great grandchildren, Grayson and Kaden; 3 sisters, Joan Eaton of South Carolina, Darlene (Jerry) Patterson of North Carolina, and Terry Ross of Colorado; and by many nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held and Bea will be laid to rest next to her husband at Joy Valley Cemetery in Springvale Township. Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
