A lifelong resident of Lambertville, Mrs. Pittore married her high school sweetheart, the late Phillip L. Pittore Sr., while he was home on leave from the U.S. Army. They remained married for 70 years and were well known in the community as the owners and operators of Phil’s Shoes and The People’s Store in Lambertville.

In addition to working with her husband, Bertha raised four children and was deeply involved with her extended families. Her late husband was a dedicated public servant whose many offices included serving as a city commissioner for 24 years and several terms as mayor, with Bertha always close by to support his efforts. Bertha was raised in the Presbyterian faith.

Daughter of the late Daniel O’Blinger Parsons and Irene Masten Parsons, sister of the late Helen and mother-in-law of the late Cheryl L. Pittore, she is survived by three sons, Phillip “Larry “Pittore, Jr. and his wife Martha of Ringoes, Judge Ronald Pittore, Pasquale “Pat” Pittore and his wife Spring, daughter Michele Romeo and her husband Peter, all of Lambertville. Also surviving are grandchildren Phillip L. Pittore III of Lambertville, Kyle Pittore of Lake Placid, N.Y.; Kendra Pittore of Point Pleasant, Pa. ; Amanda Rose of Sebastopol, Calif.

; Amy Parmegiani and her husband Ralph of New Providence, N.J.; Daniel Pittore and his wife Sara of Edgewood, Md. ; Matthew Pittore of Lambertville; Christopher, Erik and Alexander Romeo of Lambertville, four great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Elisa Hartpence and brother-in-law Angelo Pittore. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 26 at noon at Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. Lambertville.

Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Cemetery, Lambertville. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad, PO Box 237 Lambertville, NJ 08530.
