Obituary for Bettie Holmes Neely Mrs. Bettie M. Holmes Neely, 93, of Ellington Ave. , passed away May 12, 2018 at Alston Brook Nursing Care. She was born July 13, 1924 in Davidson County to Lee Thomas Holmes and Ophelia Tillman Holmes.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Village Dr. where she served on the Deaconess and usher boards. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Oliver Woodard Neely, Sr.; five brothers: Manuel, Thomas, Willard, Hulin and Joseph Holmes and two sisters, Mildred H. Michael and Elizabeth H. Brown. She leaves to cherish her memories five children: Sonja A. Cross, Fannie N. Henderson, Robbie N. (Bruce) Cross, Sylvia W. Neely and John Oliver Woodard “Woody (Yvette) Neely, Jr.; two sisters, Eugenia “Pat” Hargrave and Margot Winton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Village Dr. with family visitation at 12:30. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Bettie Holmes Neely please visit our Sympathy Store.
