Betty Ann Buza Betty Ann Buza ceased her short battle with cancer on November 20, 2018. Betty was born on January 18, 1935 to Michael and Stella Hreha who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of the Akron/Fairlawn area.

She lived life to its’ fullest embracing faith, family, and friends. She was a lifelong Catholic and actually met her future husband (Michael Buza) at a Thanksgiving Day dance at St. John’s Catholic Church. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at the University of Akron making many dear friends.

She served as President of the chapter Alumni Association. Mike and Betty shared 60 more Thanksgiving days together as husband and wife until his death in 2016. Their marriage was blessed with three children who survive her: Cheryl (Mark) Scott – Memphis, TN, Kenneth Buza – Fairlawn, OH, and Patty (John) Sankovic – Brecksville, OH; as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a communicant at St. Hilary Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society. She began her career with Firestone Bank as a teller and then worked her way to Branch Manager for Bank One where she made many more friends. Her outgoing personality was forever evident in her hosting of bridge parties at her home – while not a serious contender at cards she was unquestionably a legendary hostess.

The relationships she forged were lifelong as evidenced by her monthly dinners with her sorority sisters and their husbands on Monday nights at Papa Joe’s in the Valley. Betty and Mike are together again for Thanksgiving at a Heavenly Table and will be forever remembered by family and friends at theirs. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IS SERVICE TIME. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Friday, November 23rd at St. Hilary Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to UCP of Greater Cleveland at 10011 Euclid Avenue Cleveland, OH 44106 where gifts will be used for their Childrens Therapy Department.
