She graduated from Rusk High School in 1947. She married Lewis McCrary on March 28, 1948 in Rusk, her husband of 66 years. Lewis was in the Air Force, so they traveled the United States.

Along the way, they began raising a family. They moved back to Rusk in April of 1963. She started her career with Rusk State Hospital.

After 30 plus years, she finally retired. Her enjoyment in life was raising her children and then grandchildren and later in life, great-grandchildren. She always cooked a big Sunday dinner for her family and sometimes friends would show up to eat.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lewis, sister, Joyce Scott and her parents. The family would like to say a special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice for the care given to our mom. They went above and beyond to provide quality care.

Last but not least the family would like to say a thank you to all her caregivers along the way. Ms. Betty, Mashelle, Nixie, and Reva, although not with us long, thank you for the care given and the love shown to our mom.

She loved each of you dearly and just know the family is thankful for each of you. To her sisters, Aunt Carolyn and Aunt Maggie, you have been a constant in her life. She always looked forward to you coming and taking her to the Jalapeno Tree.
