Betty Ann Merrick Meyer age 91, of Seaford DE passed away on June 22, 2018 at the Country House in Wilmington, DE. Born August 6, 1926 in Church Creek, Maryland, her parents were Virginia Harding Merrick and John Cookman Merrick of Bridgeville DE Betty graduated in 1943 from Cambridge High School, Cambridge, MD. She attended the Cambridge Maryland Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1946.

Betty married William (Bill) Meyer in 1948. She worked as a registered nurse for Public Health Nursing, Dorchester County, MD and worked part time at the Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, DE. Betty also worked part time as an office nurse for Drs.

Rawlins and Kingsbury in Seaford for many years. Betty and her husband, Bill, were owners and operators of the B & B Motel and Trailer Court on Route 13, south of Seaford for many years. They also rented furnished mobile homes in the early 1960s, during a time when the DuPont plant was under expansion, and there was a need for furnished temporary housing.

Betty and Bill discovered Tucson, Arizona early in the 1980s. After their son, Bill and family moved to Tucson, Bill and Betty enjoyed many winters enjoying the mild weather and exploring parts of Arizona. Predeceased by: husband, William Alvin Meyer (1996); by sister, Barbara Merrick Anderson of Fort Worth, TX; and by brother, John (Jay) C. Merrick, Jr. of Laurel, DE Survived by sister, Norma Merrick Meyer, brother in law, Rev.

Donald G. Meyer (Newark, DE), and brother, Robert H. Merrick, (South Carolina) Survived by three children: son, William A. Meyer, Jr., MD (Debra) of Tucson, AZ, and 2 daughters, Marybeth Meyer Snyder (Dennis) of Wilmington DE, and Barbara Ann Meyer Darlin of Media, PA. Betty was known as “Mom Mom” to her 8 grandchildren: Brian Snyder and Andrew Snyder, both of Wilmington DE, Blake Darlin (Amy Komarnicki) of Media PA, Adam Darlin (Erica) of Columbus, OH, Erin Meyer Thompson (Todd) of Tucson AZ, Christopher Meyer of Phoenix, AZ, Rebecca Snyder of Phoenix, AZ and Ruby Meyer of Tucson. Betty is survived by three great grandchildren: William Bernard Fox Darlin, Eli Komarnicki, Jack Meyer Darlin, and two great step-grandchildren, Grace and Tucker Thompson.

Betty loved and is survived by many, many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 315 N. Shipley Street, Seaford, Delaware on September 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church in Seaford, DE or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
