Oak Ridge – Mrs. Betty “Frances” Bowman Gravley, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Kernersville Medical Center. She was born on August 11, 1935 in Guilford County to Roy Lee and Irma Sechrest Bowman. She was a resident of Oak Ridge for her entire life.

Frances was a lifelong member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She loved to play solitaire, enjoyed spending time at the beach, gardening, and just being outdoors. Frances also loved animals, especially her chihuahua, Penny.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Carley Fred “Bud” Gravley; four sons, Danny Gravley (Sandy), Darrell Gravley (Susan), Dennis Gravley (Cheryl), Doug (Denise Oldham); two grandchildren, Amber Gravley (Joshua Bowman) and Ryan Gravley (Morgan Fuquay); and two sisters, Mary Jo Dillard and Rachel Lineberry (Paul). A funeral service for Frances will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The public is welcome to view one hour prior to the service, the family will receive friends following the service in The Arbor until 7:00 pm. They also welcome visitors to the home of Danny and Sandy Gravley at 8570 Linville Rd, Oak Ridge, NC 27310.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be made to The Land Purchase Fund of Union Grove Baptist Church, 5424 Union Grove Road, Oak Ridge, NC 27310.
