Betty’s Obituary Betty J. (Kovac) Skwara, 92, of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born April 2, 1926 in Loyalhanna, she was a daughter of the late Stephen Kovac and Mary A. (Hlad) Kovac. Betty was a member of the Czechoslovak Society of America and had been employed at the Red Arrow, Ligonier.

She enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding birds, and travelling to California to visit her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Skwara; one brother, James S. Kovac; and one sister, Helen Lucas. Betty is survived by one daughter, Karen J. Laughlin of San Jose, CA; one son, Robert P. Skwara of Loyalhanna; two grandchildren, Neil Laughlin and his wife Stacy and Alison Mancinelli; two great-grandchildren, Asher and Ronan Laughlin; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visitations. Services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Caldwell Memorial Library, 988 N. Chestnut Street Ext.

, Derry, PA 15627 or to Action for Animals, P.O. Box 814, Latrobe, PA 15650. Arrangements are being handled by the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe, PA 15650.
