Obituary for Betty Jane Brehm Traverse City- Betty Jane (Alexander) Brehm, 90, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Betty (BJ) was born on May 28, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Frederick and Agnus Meckel. On June 27th she married Dean Alexander who preceded her in death in April of 1976.

After such a heartbreaking loss she moved to Traverse City where her parents had left her a home on Long Lake. Betty loved her life on the lake and her boat “Happy Days”. Her biggest thrill during that time was learning to waterski at the age of 51.

In 1980 she married Larry Brehm a good friend from the old neighborhood. They were blessed with 38 fun filled years together and made many happy memories together. Betty is survived by her husband Larry, her daughters and their spouses Jill and Ray Benson and Beth and Alan Leman.

Her grandchildren; Christopher (Angela) Leman, Jordan (Carly) Leman, Monica (Rob) Federer and Alex Benson, as well as great grandchildren; Emma Howell-Leman, Connor Leman, Caleb Leman, James Leman, Rory Federer and Madeline and Amelie Federer. She was preceded in death by her first husband Dean Alexander and their son Scott Alexander. A private burial will take place in Chicago in the spring.
