Betty Jean’s Obituary Betty Jean Brooks, lifelong resident of Fairview, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 79 years. She is healed and dancing on Heaven’s streets of gold. Betty was born April 2, 1939, in Fairview, Texas, the daughter of Jesse Leon Bruce and Selma Rebecca Lothringer Bruce.

After attending Fairview and Floresville schools, Betty pursued her love of ranching, but her most cherished role was as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Betty is survived by her daughters, Debra Lea Meadows and husband Bill of Pleasanton, Texas, and Penny Lou Sanders and husband Bruce of Fairview, Texas; grandchildren, Brooke Funke and husband Richard of Orange Grove, Texas, Amy Lou Collavo and husband Adam of Fairview, TX, Lonnie Rankin and wife Jamie of Adkins, Texas, Derek Sanders of San Antonio, Texas, and Kevin Sanders of Henderson, Nevada; great grandchildren, Cooper Funke, Noah Collavo, Beau Collavo, Madison Rankin, and Macie Rankin; sister-in-law, Doris Bruce; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Selma Bruce; and siblings, Barbara Harvey, Jack Bruce, and Elsie Mae Schroller.

Visitation was held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 25, 2019, at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel, in Floresville, Texas. The funeral service began at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel, in Floresville, Texas, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery in Wilson County, Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Adam Collavo, Richard Funke, Lonnie Rankin, Derek Sanders, Martin Popham, and Robert Handowsky.

The family requests memorials be made to Fairview Cemetery Association, 13331 FM 536, Pleasanton, TX 78064.
