Obituary for Betty Jean Deverick Betty Jean Waggoner Scammon Deverick age 95, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2018. She was born July 6, 1923 on a small farm in Columbus, Kansas to Walter Blaine & M. Murtle Bush Waggoner. As one of the Greatest Generation, she understood the value of hard work and the sacrifice and honor of being an American.

The faith she had in the Savior carried her through the many trials she faced in life. One grandson noted. “She walked in the footsteps of the Lord and never strayed”.

We will miss her and her example, but we know she is having a grand reunion with her eternal sweetheart Winton Scammon, plus many ancestors whose genealogy work she has done. She is survived by her children, Harold Scammon (Becky), Elise Reeves (Randy), Dana Tye (Doug), and 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents & siblings: Lysle, Marie, William, Marjorie, & Weymouth.

Our mother lived her life with love, faith, courage, and strength. She faced death with those same qualities. We love and miss you mom, you have blessed us in so many ways!
