Betty L. Byrd, 88, of South Haven, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the South Haven’s Bronson Hospital. She was born March 26, 1930 in Allegan, Michigan to Elva (Harrington) and Jack Tripp. She married Bernard Byrd on Feb.

5, 1954 in South Bend, Indiana. Betty was a member of the M-43 Church of Christ in South Haven. Betty had a strong faith and was not able to get out to church but found comfort in watching and worshiping on television.

When she was out, she enjoyed eating at Cracker Barrel Restaurants. She also liked sitting at the beach and the McDonalds at Walmart visiting with friends. She loved her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband – Bernard Byrd, son – Richard Byrd and son-in-law – James Martin. Surviving are her children – Patricia Martin, Jerry Byrd and Robin Ramsey all of South Haven. Five grandchildren – Ed (Paula) Martin, Allen (Christie) Martin, Tricia (Jake) Finkbeiner, Heather Ramsey Jason (Casey) Byrd.

Eleven great grandchildren – Samantha, Cameron, Warren, Joy, Jaron (Nikki), Chelsie, Carleigh, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Elijah and Raven. Great-great grandson, Kyler. Brother – Pete (Kerry) Tripp of Powell, Ohio.

A special niece, Sherry Marr, also survives. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven.

Memorial services will begin at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township.
