Exeter – Betty Lucia Harrington Call, 89, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at her home surrounded by loved ones. Born on April 3, 1929, in Springfield, VT, Betty was the daughter of the late Everett and Julia (Stone) Harrington. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1946 and had the honor of singing for her graduating class.

She married her high school sweetheart, the late Robert Call, in 1949. Betty was a wonderful homemaker, and she and Robert raised their seven children in Salem, NH. She also worked as a secretary at Walter F. Haigh School, the Salem Superintendent’s Office, and Digital Equipment Corporation.

Betty will always be remembered for her welcoming smile that made anyone who came through her door feel right at home. She enjoyed celebrating family occasions with her beloved children and grandchildren and was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, an avid reader, puzzler, and a lifelong Red Sox fan. Betty is survived by her children, Alison and Thomas Sawyer of Shrewsbury, MA; Linda and Daniel Furbush of Centerville, MA; Martin and Cindy Call of Alva, FL; Leslie Petruno of Stratham, NH; Karen and Brian Knowles of Halfmoon, NY; Cheryl and Michael Louis of Oviedo, FL; and Christopher Call of Auburn, NH; grandchildren, Brian Furbush, Marissa Petruno, Lauren Drake, Kaitlyn Petruno, Cody Call, Julia Knowles, Kailey Louis, Jenna Louis, and Sarah Knowles; brothers, Alan Harrington and Thomas (Patricia) Harrington; and nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by a brother, Everett Harrington. The family wishes to thank Betty’s loving caregivers and Rockingham VNA & Hospice for their compassionate care of Betty. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, February 27 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH.

Services will follow the visitation starting at 11:30 in the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6 Waltham, MA 02451, or the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
