Betty Lou (Wilson) Smithey, 77, of Greenville went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 18, 2019 in Greenville, TX. Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Dennis Hammer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Tuesday.

Betty was born on January 25, 1942 in Clovis, New Mexico. She is the daughter of the late Luther and Dortha (Bridgeman) Wilson. She was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Thackerville High School in Thackerville, OK.

Betty married Rubert Franklin Smithey on August 10, 1960 and they made their home in Gainesville, Texas. Rubert, joined the United States Army and they moved to Germany for one year before returning to Denton, Texas. As a result of his job they moved frequently but did spend the majority of their lives in Irving, Texas.

She was also preceded in death by Rubert; brothers Bob Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Buddy Wilson and sister Helen Morgan. Betty was a stay at home Mom when her children were young and even made many of their clothes herself. She went to work at the Atrium in Dallas in accounts receivables for 10 years before retiring.

She enjoyed going to Windstar Casino and buying Scratch-off Lottery tickets. Her favorite time was spent cane pole fishing, just sitting out and catching fish. She loved spending time with her family and having get-togethers.

She is loved and will be missed by her sons Neil Franklin Smithey and wife Marsha of Venus, TX, Rex Allen Smithey of Greenville, TX; daughters Bernadine Jones and husband Robert of Flower Mound, TX, Penny Edwards and Russell Perkins of Greenville, TX; brothers James Wilson and wife Joan of Gainesville, TX, Raymond Wilson of Thackerville, OK; sisters Oma Lee Walker and husband David of Gainesville, TX, Cathy Wilson of Sanger, TX, Lanette Smith of Lewisville, TX; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
