Obituary for Betty Sue Melvin Betty Sue Foster Melvin, age 76, of Pinson, AL went to meet her beloved Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 25, 2018. She was born to Johnny & Maude Foster on December 27, 1941. Her brothers, William Lawson and Leonard Lawson and sisters, Jeanette Freeman, Julia Taylor, and Annie Ruth Hicks all preceded her in death.

She was married to James Carlos Melvin on July 18, 1958 and they have celebrated 60 wonderful years together. They were blessed with four sons, Johnny C. Melvin (Licia), Randall “Randy” Melvin (Gail), Terry Melvin (Areita), and Mark Melvin (Sherry); grandchildren, Grant Melvin (April), Kyle Melvin (Kayla), and Colton Melvin; and great grandchildren, Khloe Melvin and Kwynley Melvin. She also had step grandchildren, Taylor Kirk, Hannah Kirk, Erica Bradford (Jay), Jessica Uptain (Odis), Westley Gortney (Krista), and Dale Gortney (Heather); step great grandchildren, Natalie Goff, Logan Bradford, Landon Bradford, Adalayda Uptain, Paislee Uptain, Leevi Uptain, Kameron Gortney, Kaden Gortney, and Amelia Gortney.

Betty Sue was a charter member of the Bradford Sanctuary of Praise. She retired from the Social Security Administration. Her love and devotion to her spouse was first and foremost.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved her Lord and loved spending time in church and taking trips with family and friends. Betty Sue’s radiant smile brought happiness and joy to so many.

She leaves a legacy of being a peacemaker and encourager to all who knew her. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Bradford Sanctuary of Praise. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church.
