Bettye A.’s Obituary BETTYE PRICE BROWN Bettye Price Brown, 82 years, passed away Saturday morning, February 9, at her home in Garland, Texas. She was born in Bonham, Texas on July 11, 1936, to the late Robert and Ethel Brent Price. On April 17, 1954, she married the love of her life, James T. Brown in the First Christian Church in Bonham, Texas.

She moved to Lubbock after graduating from Bonham High School in 1954 to be with her husband who was stationed there with the Air Force. A few years later, they moved to the Dallas area where she held different secretarial jobs, retiring from the City of Garland after 25 years. Bettye was a strong, devout Christian, who loved the Lord, reading her Bible daily and praying for her family.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Garland, Texas until her declining health. Bettye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved playing 42, traveling with her husband with their 5th wheel and spending summers in Colorado.

She will be missed as the matriarch of the family. Bettye is survived by her son, James Timothy Brown and wife, Tammy of Royce City, Texas, sisters, Faye Piland and husband, Al of Sherman, Texas and Carolyn Jones of Wylie, Texas; sisters-in-law, Johnnie Slaymaker of Pampa, Texas, Judy Price of Argyle, Texas, Pat Broiles and Juanema Barr from Bonham, Texas; grandchildren, J.W., Michael, Daniel and Katelyn Brown, Jennifer Merrifield, James Merrifield, Blake Benson; step-grandchildren, Ashley Christopher, Christian Christopher, Michael Christopher, nephews, Mike Price and wife Sharon of Pampa, Texas, Jeff Price and wife Cara of Flower Mound, Texas, nieces, Janet Scott of Carrollton, Texas and Jill Wooten of Denton, Texas and numerous great nephews and nieces. Special friends, Sue Ann and Richard Boydstun and Tibbie Donie.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel Brent Price, her husband, James T. Brown, her daughter, Terri Suzanne Benson, two brothers, Howard Price and Bobby Price; niece, Majana Slaymaker. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 13, 2019, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, February 14, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Garland, Texas.

Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Cemetary in Dallas, Texas. “A bright light has gone out of our lives, but there is a new star in heaven”.
